The Spartans stayed in it until the end, but the WNY Hitmen pulled away late in a 6-5 victory on Sunday. The game was tied at five with the Hitmen batting in the top of the sixth when an error scored one run for the Hitmen.
In the first inning the Hitmen got their offense started wtih a single on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
After the Hitmen scored one run in the top of the third, the Spartans answered with one of their own. The Hitmen then scored with a double on a 0-1 count, scoring one run. The Spartans then answered when Jayden doubled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.
David S toed the rubber for the Spartans allowing four hits and four runs over four innings, striking out eight. Austin H threw three innings in relief.
The Spartans racked up nine hits. Jayden, Max and Sean all managed multiple hits for the Spartans each with two.
Final Score: Spartans 5- Hitmen 6
