The Spartans opened their season against the Lancaster Devils on Saturday with a 3-2 loss after a late score. The game was tied at two with Lancaster batting in the top of the sixth when Daniel S grounded out, scoring one run.
The pitching was strong on both sides, Lancaster pitchers struck out eight while the Spartans sat down ten.
The Devils got things moving in the first inning, when Ian S singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
In the top of the fourth inning, Lancaster tied things up at two when Brandon B singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
Josh K got the start for the Devils. The hurler when three innings, allowing two runs and five hits, striking out two and walking zero.
Mason V toed the rubber for the Spartans. The left hander went four innings, allowing two runs on six hits, striking out six and walking one. Austin H threw three innings out of the bullpen.
David S. led the Spartans with two hits at three at bats.
